Texas is split into 254 counties each with its own trial court.  Texas also has 14 appellate courts that review the decisions made by the lower courts.  If any further review is required in a civil trial the case proceeds to the Supreme Court of Texas.  If further appeal is desired in a criminal trial the case is reviewed by the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals.

The three largest municipalities in Texas are Houston, San Antonio and Dallas.
