The state of Vermont has 14 counties, each with their own trial courts. The Superior Court handles felony criminal cases and civil cases involving damages exceeding $3,000. The Supreme Court hears all appeals from the lower courts.

The three largest cities are Burlington, South Burlington, and Colchester.
